1. When are classes held?
Classes are held:
•Every Sunday evening from 7:00 – 8:30 pm.
There are no classes on:
– Thanksgiving Sunday
– School Winter Break
– Easter Sunday
– Mother’s Day Sunday
– Father’s Day Sunday
– Canada’ Day Weekend Sunday
– Sundays in July and August
– Labour Day Weekend Sunday
2. How much do classes cost?
Calgary ESL classes are provided for FREE as a public service by local members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
3. Can I enter the classes at any time in the year?
Yes. There is a set program but the lessons do not necessarily build on each other and do not require attendance at previously completed lessons.
4. What type of program is this and what level are the classes aimed at?
This program is being offered purely as a community service by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. The Daily Dose program is primarily followed which is a series of 48 beginner and intermediate level lessons that focus on vocabulary and dialogue skills surrounding different everyday situations and events. The practice is done on a casual and fun basis with native English speakers in small groups or one on one.
5. Is this a certified ESL program?
No, this is primarily a resource for practicing conversational English.
6. What if I miss a class?
Attendance is taken, but there is no obligation to attend every class. Just come when you can! We will always be happy to see you.
